The C.L.B. Report

Only 47% of black males graduate from HS.

Only 25% of black males in New York state graduate from HS.

Only 28% of black males in New York City graduate from HS. (NYC schools enroll the largest number of black males in the country.)

Only 9% of NYC’s 8th graders are proficient at the 8th Grade reading level.

This is a serious problem people!  What I love about this CNN segment though is that it doesn’t distort the crisis in education by focusing only on Black males. It expands the conversation to reflect a deeply disturbing reality.

America is not only losing kids in the Black community, America is losing kids of all stripes. 

The BIG PICTURE. 

If WE don’t start connecting these dots soon, (with the innovation and vigilance of a society whose back IS against the wall)…I’m afraid that we won’t just lose our kids…WE the people of the United States of America will ultimately lose ourselves.

That’s a war we can’t afford to lose.
